These paper plate crafts for preschoolers are fun and easy to do! Did you know that paper plates can be made into simple baskets, or treat bags, or even colorful decorations? These paper plate crafts for preschoolers are the perfect excuse to work on developing fine motor skills while spending quality time together. This colorful rainbow can be made from a paper plate, and just a few other common craft supplies you probably already have on-hand. Added bonus — it is sure to bring lots of smiles!
To make a colorful rainbow paper plate craft of your own, you will need:
- white paper plates
- safety scissors
- cotton balls
- washable school glue
- tape
- party streamers or colored tissue paper
Invite your child to fold the paper plate in half and use safety scissors to cut along the crease line.
Show your child how to use tape to attach long strips of colorful party streamers or tissue paper. Talk about the rainbow order of colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet). Flip the plate over.
Apply washable school glue to the inside of the paper plate and invite your child to add cotton balls on top of the glue.
Allow to dry completely.
Optional — Use a hole punch to add a hole near the top of the rainbow’s arch. Thread string or yarn through the hole to hang your colorful rainbow craft from the ceiling!
