This Halloween play dough sweet shop is such a fun activity to count down the days until Halloween! This is a great activity for a rainy day. The kids can help measure out the ingredients while you make the play dough together. Alternatively, use store-bought play dough to get right to the imaginative playtime fun!
Our Favorite Halloween Play Dough Recipe:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup salt
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 1 cup flour
- 4-5 drops food coloring
Combine water, salt, cream of tartar, and food coloring in a medium saucepan. Cook on low heat while stirring, and add the oil. Next, slowly add in the flour a little at a time. Keep stirring until it starts to pull away from the pan, then transfer to a cutting board to cool. As soon as it is cool enough to touch, begin kneading the dough. It will become a lovely play dough consistency!
We made batches of play dough in Halloween colors like orange, green, purple, and black. There was so much play dough that we invited the neighbors and friends to join us for a play date too!
