We are counting down the days until Disney Pixar’s movie Inside Out comes to theaters! Thanks to a special preview event during the 2015 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, the kids and I have been telling our friends to mark their calendars for the film’s release on June 19th. Inside Out features brilliant storytelling and amazing creativity from Disney Pixar as the emotions of an 11 year old girl are brought to life on screen. A must see film!
The film’s producer, Jonas Rivera, shared a bit about the film-making process. Inside Out took approximately one and half years to animate and about five years overall from start to finish. Toward the middle and end of the process, there were screenings every couple of months with employees from every department at Disney Pixar attending and providing feedback. The end result is amazing!
Inside Out takes place inside the mind of an 11 year old girl name Riley. Riley’s mind not only makes for a fascinating setting, but it also creates 2 simultaneous story lines that dovetail throughout the film. The emotions of Joy, Anger, Fear, Sadness and Disgust are the main characters that guide Riley throughout her life and during a particularly trying time of transition to a new school and home.
I love that the film also attempts to answer such pressing questions as: How are memories made? Why do we get songs stuck in our heads? What happens when we have brain freeze? How are dreams made?
The voice acting and animation are what we have come to know, love, and expect of Disney Pixar. The real brilliance, however, is in the creative storytelling and imaginative explanations for relatable events. Inside Out will no doubt appeal to a wide range of ages. If you are looking for a memorable movie the family will enjoy, mark your calendars for June 19th and go see it!
