These scratch ‘n sniff Valentine treat bags smell as SWEET as they look! Emily had so much fun making these, and the colors were quite vibrant!
To make your own, you will need: white paper lunch bags (we found ours at Target), unsweetened powdered drink mix (ie. Kool Aid – very inexpensive), and a bit of ribbon.
Emily was so excited to make the paint with the unsweetened powdered drink mix! We had done this one other time, and it was big hit. To make the paint, mix the packet of powder with 2 Tbsp. of water.
We used heart-shaped cookie cutters to trace our designs onto the bags.
Then it was time for painting!!
…and sniffing!!
Once the paint was dry, we filled the bags with Valentine’s Day goodies, folded the tops down, and used a hole puncher to make holes for a bit of ribbon.
So much fun!!
Dear Valerie,
Encouraging children to sniff paint, are you? π
Love,
Mark
What a cute & "sweet" idea!
CUTE!! Perfect for making valentine's day even sweeter!
Mark – your comments always crack me up!
Mark — hysterical!
I think this is super cute. We have painted with kool aid before, and my kids loved that.
Oh how fun! I love this idea! Thanks so much, I'll be linking.
Very cute idea! I am going to borrow your Kool-Aid painting for my kids to make their Valentine's for their friends for their party. Very smart & resourceful – the kids will love how they smell too! π
i love the first picture of your daughter….cute
Super cute idea. I love the look on Emily's face in those picture.
We never make koolaid and I have had some packets waiting for playdoh. I think we will do this instead.
I still have my old sticker books with all my old scratch and sniff. I would get $2 a week allowance and I spent every cent on stickers.
Very cute!
Cute… for me? Thanks! I'll be looking forward to receiving and sniffing my V-Day goody bag. π
This is such a cute idea! I had no idea you could paint with drink mix- learn something new everyday!
Thanks for sharing all of your fun ideas!

Oh my I had forgotten about the scented paint. I have to make some for ER to use. I think she'd get a big kick out of it.
What a wonderful idea! This is something that I definitely want to try. Maybe I can even convince my daughter that Kool Aid is in fact special paint – she never tried it before π
