For Clara, there is nothing more motivating than CAKE!! So after cutting out some letters with construction paper, and making a quick sign, I invited her to the table to “build a word” WordWorld style! She was given the letters out of order, but used the sign as a guide to match the letters and build her cake. Yay!!
She loved decorating her cake with lots of icing and candles!!
“Ta-da!! I did it! I built a word!!!” I love how this simple activity gave her some early literacy success, and she went on to “build” several more words, and do lots of coloring pages downloaded from the WordWorld website this afternoon!

My 4 year old has been watching Word World for a year now. He is one of a handful of kids in his preschool class that can spell words. He watches this cartoon everyday:) He enjoys the music and the stories as much as spelling words. My 15 month old even likes to watch! We love PBS and Word World!!

We are huge PBS fans but Word World really takes the “CAKE”. My 3yr old loves to watch the show and I don’t feel the least bit guilty about letting her. She brings so much of what she sees there into her play.
Love WordWorld! My Clara is obsessed with it right now and this DVD would be a Godsend on our upcoming 12 hour road trip.
My kids, ages 4, almost 3, and 1, all LOVE WordWorld! I love it also, it gives me a brief period to get some chores done without “helping” hands 😉 Definitely going to check out the printables on their site!
We watch WordWorld at home with my boys. Recently I found a couple of dvds and bought them to share with my preschoolers as well. I love that the show is entertaining and also teaches some phonics and word knowledge skills throughout.
We like WordWorld too, just never occurred to me to check for a website!

Very cute. We don’t watch a lot of TV so it’s rare that we catch this show, but I LOVE it! PBS is the only place to find decent kids programming that actually teaches something.

This is great! Except now I’ve got the WordWorld song in my head…my 4 yr. old son would enjoy this…he likes the show, but he’s also building words on his own now. Today he wrote PLES on the picture of the police station he drew. LOVE.IT.

WordWorld is one of my son’s favorite shows
Word World is such a great show! My son now sounds out random words and tells me what letter they start with….it’s happens to always be the wrong letter, but he can’t read yet lol.
