Moms Fighting Hunger — and kids too!

{Give Hope} Moms Fighting Hunger

Yesterday, our pals at Moms Fight Hunger kicked off a month long initiative to raise awareness and inspire others through action. We’re pretty proud of what they’re doing and wanted to share a few simple ways you and your family can make a BIG difference this year:

Go Orange

It might seem silly that something as simple as wearing the color orange could be a way to make a difference, but it’s not. Orange is the color for Hunger Action and by wearing it you are showing your support. Take it one step farther by snapping a photo of you and/or your kids and/or your pets going orange and post them on Instagram with the hashtag #MomsFightHunger #GoOrange. We’ll add you to this inspiring slideshow.

Take the Coffee Can Challenge

Jenn’s family is always doing something to serve others. I am continually inspired by all she does, this month her family is collecting  their spare change to donate. A little goes a long way, at most Food Banks, $1 = 10 meals or more for a family in need. How many meals can you gift this month with your pocket change?

Dine Out for No Kid Hungry

Thousands of restaurants around the country are doing their part to support No Kid Hungry by offering discounts and incentives for eating at their establishments. A portion of the cost of your meal (or in some cases a donation) goes straight to No Kid Hungry to help with school meal programs. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised how many and what types of restaurants are taking part this year. Find a restaurant near you.

Host your own food drive

Setting up a food drive in your neighborhood, school, church or even your local library is an excellent way to get your kids involved and making a difference. Helen of Curly birds has a great write up on how you can host your own food drive.

Set Up A Feeding With Reading Initiative

We love, love, love this kids helping kids initiative Inner Child Learning Editor Joyce set up with her little one last year!
