Quick Craft: Scratch Art Valentines

Looking for a super quick craft for the kids to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Something with a little sparkle and lace?? Then this adorable Valentine ornament craft is for you!

To make your own scratch art Valentine ornaments, you will need: Scratch Magic paper (we used sheets from the Scratch & Sparkle Deluxe Kit, so pretty!), heart-shaped cookie cutter, tape, pencil, hole punch, ribbon, scissors, and doilies (optional, but totally cute).

On the back side of a sheet of Scratch Art paper, trace the outline of the heart-shaped cookie cutter. Cut out the shapes.

Invite your child over for some Scratch Art fun!! Clara loved having the freedom to decorate her Valentine’s however she wished, and I couldn’t resist making a few of my own along with her! Scratching the paper reveals lots of sparkly designs underneath, perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Attach a doily with some tape, and punch a hole with the hole puncher to thread some ribbon through. Hang your Valentine ornaments for display, or give them to someone special!

 Have fun!!

Disclosure: A big thank you to our friends at Melissa & Doug for sponsoring this post. Melissa & Doug also provided us with lots of Scratch Art paper for plenty of creative crafting fun!

  1. Dear Valerie,

Clara’s design is unusually.. abstract. Free spirit, that one!

    Love,
    Mark

  2. I wish scratch art paper was easier to make or cheaper to buy. We go through so much of it! My daughter can’t get enough.

  3. Scratch paper is way too much fun, even for adults!
