Fun with Music — Ribbon Dancing!

We had rain all day, and the girls needed to burn off some energy. So we tied some ribbon onto some canning lids, cranked up some Latin music, and had a DANCING fiesta in our living room!!

Woo hoo!! Both of the girls had so much fun!!!

You know I can’t resist an excuse to get down and boogie…. I joined in too!!
So much fun!!
A short video of the action:

It definitely looks like energy was being burned!

  2. Lenetta @ Nettacow says

Lookin' good, mamacitas! :>) Had to laugh, though – I stumbled across something similar in a catalog and was going to make them for my niece for her upcoming birthday. Great minds and all that!

  3. I think this will be my workout tomorrow! My kids will love it!

@ An Almost Unschooling Mom — And now you know the secret to how I stay so thin. πŸ˜‰ LOL

@ Lenetta — They are very easy to make! We made some last year, and danced outside with them. Have fun!! I'm sure your niece will love them!!

  5. That looks like gobs of fun. Was a nap in order after that? And I absolutely love your skirt/outfit!

  6. I just saw some of these at an online site. Making them is so much better (and cheaper!).

  7. THis is fun. In the past we have purchased shower curtain rings from the dollar store and used them for danincing ribbons too!

  8. Valerie @ Frugal Family Fun Blog says

@ Scott — Before I posted this, and you and Lenetta commented, I had no idea that these were sold in catalogs/online stores! I thought it was something people just made! I totally live under a rock. I do recommend making them yourself — much cheaper and the kids can pick out what ribbon they want to add!!

  9. Valerie @ Frugal Family Fun Blog says

    @ Sharon — That is brilliant!!! πŸ™‚

  10. This is such a great idea!

  11. You sure are a cool mom.

  13. Raising a Happy Child says

Emily gets to be a good photographer, and it looks like you had a great dancing party.

  14. Valerie @ Frugal Family Fun Blog says

@ Raising a Happy Child — I always get nervous giving her the camera because it's almost as big as her head, but she probably snapped about 50 pics in the span of about 30 seconds. Pretty soon, she'll want her own blog! πŸ˜‰

  15. What a great idea! Thanks for sharing it!

  16. Valerie @ Frugal Family Fun Blog says

@ Christy — You will burn a lot of calories! πŸ™‚

@ Petula — Clara took a looong nap right after this. You can see her starting to get all floppy in the video, but she had a blast!

  17. That looks like too much fun!

  18. Mommy Moment says

again…another post that confirms why I love your blog so much! Too bad you did not apply to write for me once a week LOL – Would have saved me hours and hours of work going through all these applications (Hehehe) You know I Love ya!!!

  20. MaryAnne says

So cute and fun – great idea to use the canning jar lids to hold the ribbons!

  21. You've got such a cute little body, Momma. Can I say that? :0 And the ribbons look very fun.

  22. Sweet!! My little often grabs ribbons from my craft stash and says she is doing a ribbon dance. I need to make her something like this. (love your skirt too)

  23. Valerie @ Frugal Family Fun Blog says

@ Mommy Moment — I think you picked some GREAT writers! I'm looking foward to their first posts! πŸ™‚
