Sunday Snapshot — High Tech Toddler

We purchased this refurbished ancient iMac on eBay years ago as Emily’s first learning computer. This week, it has been officially passed on to Clara! It takes a lickin’… and keeps on tickin’!

  1. Dear Valerie,

She does amazingly well despite not having a keyboard.

For those interested, it is a G3/333MHz, and I replaced the memory so that she has a whopping 384 MB.

It's not so great with anything other than some old software titles, but it works.

    Love,
    Mark

    That's one techno baby!

  3. So cute. We started our girls out with a keyboard that attached on top of ours and it had games with it. It was great for teaching them colors/shapes etc- and how to control the mouse. It's amazing how fast they learn how to use technology. Now they are teaching me a few things. lol

  4. We have an old laptop that the kids use. It runs older kids software and we disconnected all internet features, oh, and it makes for a portable dvd player in a pinch. They love it.

  5. You will fall on the floor laughing, but we only have ONE COMPUTER in our house. ONE COMPUTER for five people. I'm super protective of it too. I let the kids play games, but I worry about them breaking it all the time!

  6. Our kids get the computers that we're done with, so they're not top of the line, but they're still pretty good.

  7. Soo cute! Im not a mac fan but they do keep on ticking! We took one of those computers apart at my office and took out the "guts" and turned it into a trash can.. We called it an iTrash 🙂

Oh my goodness, that's awesome! I love retro technology. I know my hubby would get a kick out of this . . . and this reminds me: I have a refurbished lap top just waiting for my preschooler to have some tech fun too.

Lucky Clara. Anna can get on mine if she is lucky, but it doesn't happen as often as she would have liked.

@ Jen — I've seen those keyboards, but we've never tried them. I bet the kiddos pick up on it pretty quickly!

@ Anna — Oh, I forgot that Em used to watch DVDs on this too! Thanks for the reminder!!

@ Christy — Seriously???? One computer?? My marriage would be in peril. 😉

@ Lindsay — I love the iTrash idea!! I was thinking this one would make a nice aquarium when it finally kicks the bucket.
