Another rainy day here, so I took the girls on an adventure to our local thrift shop where we spotted this beautiful dress for just $5.00! Emily wanted to use it as part of her growing collection of play dress up outfits. How could I resist?
Look! It even twirls!
Her favorite dress up outfits include a pirate, princess, fairy, and a butterfly. I think she likes the pirate costume the best. It’s fun to hear her say phrases like, “Arrr, matey!” and pretending to look on a map for buried treasure. The thrift shop is a great place to buy costumes and pretend play clothes.
Looks like the perfect dress-up dress!
What a great find! I love the pictures, especially that last one!
I’m a fan of buying dress up items at garage sales and on clearance. Sadly our most wonderful consignment shop just went out of business, and there aren’t any good thrift stores around here.
Oh, my girls woould be so jealous.
What fun! I used to love finding deals like this the day after Halloween – I’ll have to start doing this for my grandson. I’m sorry I’ve been absent, I left a post on my blog explaining everything.
@ Steph — When a consignment shop goes out of business it just about breaks my heart. The one I took the girls to is located about 20 minutes away, but it is by far the LARGEST one in the area, so it is well worth the drive. Plus, on Wednesdays everything is 1/2 off of their already low prices. It’s fabulous!
@ kathalog — Great to see you, and good luck with the move!
I love the look on Emily’s face in the last picture. She had a lot of fun mom!
we do this with doll clothes… we buy the NB size at Tarjay or Gap or ON on sale and it’s amazing at the wonderful stuff (way cuter than real doll clothing) you can get for such great prices. We did save a lot of Rebecca’s baby clothes so that she would be able to one day play with them.
I just have to say that last pic OH MY GOSH! She is too cute!!!!!! Melt my heart!
I love the $5 dress! Such cute pictures!
Dress-up is popular around here too. My mom had saved a bunch of my dress-up stuff so my kids are wearing a lot of that lately. Just last night I found a Little House on the Prairie dress and pinafore my mom made with my name embroidered on it. Bella insisted on wearing ti to bed.
@ Stephanie — That Little House on the Prairie dress sounds adorable!! How cute that she wanted to wear it to bed!
I have never even thought of looking for dress up clothes at the thrift shop!
Very smart getting the dresses from the thrift store! What great dresses!
