I showed Emily how to make crayon resist drawings, and she had a lot of fun with this activity. We did these at night, and it seemed like a fabulous way to end the day. Quiet, relaxing, and fun. To make your own, you will need a white crayon or oil pastel, white paper, and some watercolor paint.
Draw a secret design with the white crayon, and have your child paint over it with watercolors to reveal the design. Emily kept asking if she could paint smiley faces today, so I started off drawing the patterns for her. Eventually, she wanted to draw her own designs and watch those pop up after painting over them.
What a cool idea! I will have to try that with our kiddos!!!!
I used to love those as a kid. How nice that Emily enjoyed them so much. You’ll have to teach her how to leave secret spy messages soon (lemon juice — right?!).
What a great idea! I’ll have to try this with my kids.
