Building toys from cardboard is SO much FUN!!
With the help of our makedo kit, and a few recyclables we had on-hand, Emily and I built a fun firetruck!! I’m not sure why she wanted to wear safety goggles to put out fires..?? But she sure had lots of fun with this!
It is basically a box with a hole cut out of the bottom, and some elastic attached for arm straps. We used yogurt lids for wheels, and an empty egg carton for the emergency lights. There’s also a jump rope tucked inside, which she used for a fire hose!
Emily discovered that a frisbee makes a great steering wheel!!
Now she’s off to rescue her stuffed animal cats…… that are stuck in trees! Those silly cats!
If you’d like to build cardboard toys of your own, there is still time to enter our giveaway for a Free Play Makedo kit!!
Have fun!!

Dear Valerie,
I can only assume that this means that I am one step closer to getting approval for installing a
stripperfirefighter’s pole in our bedroom. You know, to support the local fire department.
Love,
Mark

I love the firetruck. (And Mark’s idea gave me a good laugh, too.)

Oh, I LOVE when kiddos lose their front teeth- Emily’s smile is even sweeter than normal…if that’s possible…

That’s so sweet of you! She’s only missing one tooth, but it looks like a HUGE gap!! She was thrilled to have another visit from the tooth fairy last night!

Dear Mark,
no joke, I saw one of those in a house when we were house-hunting. He said it was “to honor the firemen who died on 9-11.”
Now, I just need to go through a large amount of paper to have the box to make the fire truck……..

ROTF at Mark’s comment! Fun firetruck!

Emily is the CUTEST! I love all of her pictures! She should be a comedian when she grows up. Her expressions are fantastic!

Emily toothy grin is adorable. So (again) is the fabric in the background. Will you need a firewomans’s outfit to go with the pole in bedroom Valerie? Mark’s comments are getting quite risque now that he is a year older

Ooo that firetruck is adorable but not nearly as cute as that missing-a-front-tooth grin! Hee hee loved Mark’s comment too.

So cute. And so smart using a red box. Much easier than painting it or covering it with red paper!
February 23rd, 2011 on 8:32 pm
The red was what inspired the whole thing — much easier, yes!

Not only is the box car adorable, and your daughter precious, but the actual picture is cool, too. What’s the background?
February 23rd, 2011 on 8:32 pm
Thanks so much, Netta! It is wrapping paper from the dollar store. I use wrapping paper a lot in the background… it’s colorful, cheap, and fun!

That looks so cute and a whole bunch of fun!
