These smiley sandwich picks are a great way to add some FUN to plain ol’ PB&J sandwiches! They are so super-easy to make, that I’m almost ashamed to post about it.
Gather some color coding labels, and draw SILLY faces on them!
Sandwich a toothpick between two of the labels, and insert into your favorite sandwich. Emily tells me these make her sandwiches taste even better!
Make lots of SILLY faces yourself — it’s more fun that way!!
Admire your funny faces, play with your food for a bit, and eat up your lunch!
Have fun!!

Cute and simple – love it!
Seriously, it doesn’t get much simpler than this! Have fun!
Why would you be ashamed? This is a great idea, anything to get the kids to eat their food right?!?
I know!!! If it gets the kids to eat healthy food, I’m all for it!
Oh! This is a spectacular idea! I (for ONE) am very glad you posted it!!
Thanks, Shari!! Enjoy! π
So cute! It may be simple, but it never crossed my mind, so I am glad you posted it. I would love to put these in my son’s lunch for school, but wouldn’t you know that toothpicks are not allowed! Oh well, we’ll definitely do this at home!
I’ve never heard of no toothpicks allowed at school, but I’m sure C and R will enjoy making these at home! Have fun!!
Dear Valerie,
Did Emily actually eat her sandwich, or did she sit there and play with the toothpick people?
Love,
Mark
There were only a few crumbs left — oh, and the toothpicks, of course!
these sandwich picks are very popular now! you should be proud of yourself for making a kid friendly version! i’m trying to get the pea to eat a sandwich, so i will definitely give this a try! thanks!
Have you tried cutting sandwiches into fun shapes? Emily always goes nuts for those!
Maybe you should put Emily’s face on the sticks – she seems to have the expressions down π
LOL Great idea!!!!
cute!! Fun way to dress up a sandwich π
Hee hee! I want some for my sandwiches too! π
I want some for my sandwiches too! π Hee hee!
Cute! I started reading this post in my reader and thought, “I should really get some of those circles. I’m always seeing those in projects on Valerie’s site too,” and then scrolled back and realized that this was from your site. You guys must buy the store out! π I read a post recently that suggested putting stickers on foods to label whether they are safe or not allergy-wise, and I might just buy some of these and let my guy decorate them with smileys and stick them on snacks that are safe for him. That way when I go into label in a few months and have to leave him with someone else (*deep breaths*) for just about my first time ever (I’m pathetic) I’ll know he can be fed safely. Sorry for the tangent. Love your picks!
Label = labor. Oops.
GREAT idea!!! You must be so nervous about leaving him on his own, but I’m sure he’ll be fine (especially if you make it so easy for his babysitter while you’re away). Best of luck to you!! xoxo
Oh need to find my labels. Watch out I’m going into that mess
I’ve got your back — LOL! π
Such a great idea for entertaining too:)
Agreed!! I’m totally making some of these the next time we host a fun party!
Love this idea and all your other wonderful ideas!
Thanks, Min! They are lots of fun (and kind of addicting) to make! π
Oh how cute! What a fun activity. Thanks so much for this, I’ll be linking.
Thanks so much for the link, Rachel! I really appreciate it!! xoxo π

Hahaha!! I think so too! π
Just love her expressions. So much fun!
LOL Thanks!!!
Great idea!!!! Letting the kids get involved in preparing the sandwich and draw the faces – PLUS POINT! They will be more motivated to finish up the sandwich =)
Have fun, Izzy! It seems to work so far (knock on wood)!
Hahaha, i love the faces Emily is making to copy the ones she drew!!
She’s such a silly kid! Never fails to make me laugh, though. π
