For a colorful and fun project, roll out a long piece of freezer paper, and dip your child’s thumb into some red paint. We used Crayola Washable paint. Make two thumb prints next to each other to make a heart shape.
Have your child dip their pinkie finger into some green paint and write a “W” on top of all the heart-shapes.
It should start to look like a strawberry… like this!
Next, use the opposite end of a paint brush dipped in white paint to make the seeds on the strawberries. This was Emily’s favorite part!!
It makes beautiful and inexpensive Summer wrapping paper!!!
We LOVE strawberry season, don’t you?
Have fun!!
Gorgeous!
I agree – this is wonderful!
I love strawberries and I love this idea! The wrapping paper looks great!
I LOVE this! So cute.
Good enough to eat – so bright!
Dear Valerie,
Next up on "Frugal Family Craft Fail", I feature incriminating photos of the woefully smashed half of a strawberry you initially tried to use for this print.
Love,
Mark
Adorable!
Mark always cracks me up!
But seriously I think this is the cutest wrapping paper EVER. I kinda have a thing for strawberries.
I love, love strawberries. What a beautiful way to wrap a present. I know I'd find it difficult to unwrap it, as it looks so good.
I'm sorry to hear about the squashed stawberry. Did it end up in the compost or a smoothie?
This would be the perfect way to wrap up strawberry shortcake…DOLLS, that is…the cake would prove a bit messy…
@ Cheryl — Sadly, neither, since it was saturated in paint. π Poor thing, it never even saw it coming, but for future reference strawberries are a bit too spongy for stamping with paint. Ah welll, live and learn, right? π
@ Wonder Mom — Great idea! LOL Yes, the cake would be messy, indeed!
Oh man, this would be so much cuter than our usual version of wrapping paper. We usually make paint blob paper.
How lovely and festive!
How fun! π
Oh my goodness. Your blog is the best source of ideas on the entire web π Thanks *so* much!!!!
I love this! I need to get paper like this. I don't have anything around to use for wrapping paper. I used to love my big role of paper I had in the classroom for murals. I miss it!
Jen from Creative and Curious Kids!
That's so freaking cool!
@ Basbusa's Mama — That's so sweet, thank you!! π
@ Jen — We love freezer paper, and it's great for painting murals. I try to have a roll on-hand! We ran out of it once, and that was a sad day.
I am in love with this idea. It looks like an old fashion print.
I think I may do this on those plain brown handle gift bags that they sell. Thank you.
@ Just Breathe — That would look so pretty! Have fun!! π
adorable!
O my goodness I love this!!
ooo very cute!! We went strawberry picking last week and had a blast! I found a recipe for an amazing strawberry pie if your interested π
this is really cute! do you think this would work with fabric paint and a bit of cotton woven fabric? I was thinking pinking shears to cut squares and adorn canning jars of homemade strawberry jam? Just in time for strawberry season here in northern Virginia. Great idea and what a lovely picture!
This kind of reminds me of my son's preschool fly-swatter art. I think the teacher "stamped" flys on the paper and had the kids "swat" at them with a swatter dipped in yellow paint.
I am going to have to use this idea for grandma's birthday present! Thanks!
@ abbie — It would absolutely work with fabric paint! Great idea!! Have fun! π
That is so super cute. I want to go make some of that paper right now.
Oohh I soo love strawberry season too! I love this paper you created alot! I will have to try this with my kiddos…they will love it! Thanks for sharing!!!
So cute! My mother in law LOVES strawberries…her kitchen is decorated with them. I will have to use this idea somehow!
