This Robin’s nest picture was a simple, easy, and tactile craft that even the little crafters can do with great success! What a fun way to welcome in Spring!
To make your own, you will need: some egg shapes cut from blue construction paper, background paper, brown yarn (we used some leftovers from my stash), and some glue.
First, soak some strands of brown yarn in a mixture of glue and water.
Pull each strand out, one at a time, and arrange into a nest on the background paper.
Arrange your yarn until you are happy with how your nest looks.
Tuck some eggs in behind the yarn! Emily loved this part!
Allow to dry completely….
….. and enjoy your beautiful Robin’s nest!
Also, be sure to check back later this week — we are hosting a wonderful giveaway courtesy of Lisa Leonard Designs custom jewelry. You won’t want to miss it! Have you seen her vintage frames necklaces? Stunning!
I love that in a picture! I've seen it in so many ways…and never just on construction paper as a picture. Adorable and I can hang it up!
Dear Valerie,
I'm sure your readers would love to see your "leftover craft stash". I imagine that it rivals most normal craft stashes.
π
Love,
Mark
@ Mark — Are you blackmailing me with a "behind the scenes" of FFFB post??
Those turned out very pretty!
@Valerie
I'm considering starting a blog, titled "Frugal Fail: The Darker Side of FFFB."
It will feature every failed project, as well as the rare unhappy pictures of Emily. They do exist, you know. I have pictures of "the oatmeal and food coloring incident". Did you ever fully get that stain out of the carpet?
I think I might be on to something….
Love,
Mark
O:-)
So cute! I love the blue eggs. I bet you could make the Jackson Pollack style to and let the kids splat the paper with paint… or the marble paint thing you did last winter. Oooo… the ideas are endless.
Blessings,
Val
Oh Mark… do it! I bet it would be a huge hit. You could title it "EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE!"
lol…
Val
Oh, Valerie, you have to take a picture of your "leftover craft stash". I bet it's great! Emily must love it!
I like the idea of a behind the scenes post too! LOVE that idea!
Very cute nest!
Cute, simple, and sweet – perfect =)
Now you've got me singing-
"Rockin' robin…tweet! tweet! tweet!
Rockin' robin…tweet! tweddle-dee-tweet!"
Now you've got me singing-
"Rockin' robin…tweet! tweet! tweet!
Rockin' robin…tweet! tweedle-dee-tweet!"
Very nice, but a bit messy – I have someone who will yell "napkin!!!" the minute her fingers touch the yarn soaked in glue π
Very cute…
I checked out the charm necklace and it's oh so sweet! I've been wanting one like that with my kids' initials. That would be cool!
Yes, I vote for a behind the scenes post too! Great idea, Mark. π So, if she doesn't do it do we get to see your new blog of the bombs? I was wondering if there were any non-happy Emily photos. LOL
Oh I love this!!!!
@Mark – I vote for the behind the scene blog too! How awesome it would be to see all the things that go wrong. I could donate plenty of guest articles for that one!
Very cute. You are ready for Easter.
So cute! I love that idea.
So creative. My son would luv to do this thanks for the cute idea.
turned out great!
Yes, yes he is blackmailing you, and inquiring minds want to know.
Oh, and as a side point. That turned out much better than our attempt at a 3-d nest, which did not look at all nest like.
So, next time we're going to do that.
how fun! it looks great x
i love robin's eggs : )
Cute! I love all the springy crafts you're doing lately. It feels like spring is coming early at least where I live.
So fun! I can't wait to try this with Jenny! π
Those are so sweet!
How is it your crafts are always so simple and amazing?
@ Ticia — Don't encourage him! LOL It would be a fun series, and I'm sure he would have plenty of "material". Ahem!
@ Stephanie — We finally had our first warm days here. We were so happy to get outside again!
@ Rebecca — Awww…. thanks so much!
@ Val in the Rose Garden — Oh my goodness, that is soooo funny!!!
Very pretty and lots of possibilities. For older kids to paint a background before adding their nest.
Keep posting stuff like this i really like it
