2 Simple (and Frugal) Solutions

Tired of always pouring juice for your kids? Want to encourage your kids to have more independence? Try placing a beverage dispenser in your refrigerator with pre-watered down juice. Emily was so proud of herself for pouring her own juice today!

Remember the self-serve snack tray I posted about previously? This is the new and improved version — on a lazy susan! Now Emily can even reach the items in the back!

Yummmm!
A lazy susan and a beverage dispenser is far cheaper than a new fridge!
Happy Mother’s Day!

Brilliant – I especially love the lazy susan idea!

    Happy Mother’s Day!

  2. Great ideas! I’ve got to get one (or 2) of those dispensers. πŸ™‚

Fabulous ideas! I’ll have to try the lazy susan. I keep a bin in the pantry with non-perishable snacks that the kids are free to rummage through and choose their own snack. I’ve also kept a small pitcher in the fridge on a low shelf so that they can pour their own drink.

Wonderful ideas! I love the idea of a lazy susan in the fridge. That would help Don and I a lot in finding the little things like sour cream, and salsa that tend to get lost in the back.

Thank you for this! I have been wanting to make it easier for my kids to get their own snacks. I’ll also be putting a basket just for them in the pantry so they’re not standing there wondering what to get and dropping the corn meal while trying to get what they want…

  7. Very smart ideas, will have to try this!

Great idea. We’ve been doing this with filtered water from the sink to break our addiction to bottled water…never thought about doing it with watered-down juice. Awesome!

I love both of these ideas, but especially the dispenser, that’s fantastic! Sunnyboy has a snack table and can get things from the freezer and does have a shelf for snacks in the fridge, but he’s not yet able to open the fridge door. I’d love to get a drinks dispenser for when he can, thanks for the tips πŸ™‚

These would be perfect ideas for Make-Do Monday at Ann Kroeker’s blog if you wanted to take part in that πŸ™‚

  10. @ sunnymama — I’ve never seen Make Do Monday, but I can’t wait to check it out.. .thanks! ((going there now))

Great ideas–and I’ve seen dispensers like that at Goodwill (even more frugal!).

    Thanks for participating!

  12. That’s a great point, Ann! I’ve seen them there too, but I haven’t seen ones with a handle (although I’m sure they have them there, I just didn’t spot one). Usually they have a button, and that can be harder for Emily to push. I’ll be on a lookout for them, because I think we can use another one too!

  13. What great ideas!

Great ideas! I think my oldest may be ready for this. Thanks!

That Lazy Susan idea is brilliant!

  16. Love the snack solution you came up with! I picked up a lazy susan at Dollar General for $1.00 a couple of years back to use in my cabinet for my spices. I’ll have to check there to see if I can snag one for my fridge!

  17. Those are such cool ideas. Amber (my oldest) is about to do crafts with the younger kids and I was scrolling through showing her some of the things you've done. Maybe it sparked some ideas in her. I'll have to remember to take some pictures of what they do to share.

Hope you're having a good weekend.
