We’d like to take a moment to wish you all a very happy 4th of July, and share a bit of our lives with you.

Val in Pennsylvania:
We like to invite friends over, put together packages to mail to soldiers who are overseas, have a bbq, then off to the park to watch the fireworks — and we bring plenty of glow sticks to give out to other kids who may be there.

The 4th of July is truly one of my favorite holidays. Growing up we celebrated this holiday and my grandfather’s birthday with the greatest down home celebrations of all. The whole town would stop by, make small talk, drink sweet tea and lemonade and trade crops from their farms, and garden or homemade jams and canned goods. It was a truly epic event.
Now that I have a family of my own, I miss my Papa and get reminiscent around this time of year. I try to relish in the small things: a quiet day spent together, a fresh fruit salad, lots of lemonade, playing in the backyard, sparklers after dark.
I just love the 4th of July.

We love a good parade!
This is the second dress I ever made for my daughter (from a $1 Target bandana), I suppose that’s another way we celebrate…I often make something red white and blue for them…

We can see the big fireworks display our town does from our backyard. So we eat BBQ and roast s’mores in out fire pit until it is finally time for the show. It is a fun, relaxed, and cozy kind of holiday for us.
Megan in Florida:
We love to BBQ, swim, watch the fireworks and wear lots of red, white and blue! We send thank you letters to the soldiers ahead of time, so they will arrive in time for the 4th, and make a donation to the USO every Independence Day as a “birthday present” for America!
