Polar Animals Sensory Bin

This polar animals sensory bin was one of my kids’ favorite activities during a recent day off from school due to icy weather. We did not get any snow, so we made our own. Then we added some small toy animals for plenty of imaginative Winter playtime fun! This was so quick and easy to set up, and the fake snow can be used over and over again. I love how this encouraged my kids to learn more about polar animals, and my six year old asked lots of questions that had us doing research to learn more. This polar animals sensory bin kept both of my kids entertained for a long time!

Polar Animals Sensory Bin

To make your own polar animals sensory bin, you will need:

  • Insta-Snow — non-toxic, environmentally safe, and fully safety tested. (ages 4 and up)
  • Various polar animals — we love this polar animals play set! It includes a polar bear, arctic fox, and leopard seal.
  • Paper snowflakes (optional)

Step 1

Gather your materials and mix up the Insta-Snow according to the package directions. My kids love to help measure out the water to add to the powder. The powder expands quickly to nearly 100 times its original size! If it is left out to dry, it can be used again & again by re-adding some water.

Step 2

Add the Insta-Snow to a dishpan or similar container.

Step 3

Add the toy polar animals, and invite your kids to play!
