Weekend Rewind — Catching Leprechauns

St. Patrick’s Day will soon be here! Here’s a festive and frugal activity Emily and I did last year, and it made our neighbors and letter carrier SMILE. Have fun!!

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we thought it would be fun to lure some leprechauns into our house for good luck. Armed with a pair of Clara’s old baby shoes and some colorful chalk, we made green footprints on the sidewalk leading into the house!

Emily told me not to forget about the rainbow. We all know how a real leprechaun can never resist the lure of a good rainbow!!
Exxxxx cellent….. all according to plan [insert hand-wringing here].

Leprechaun footprints are a lot of fun to jump on!

Wishing you a very happy (and lucky) St. Patrick’s Day!!

  2. I would love to do that, except that there is snow and ice covering the sidewalk and driveway! πŸ˜›

  3. Loved this last year.. and love it this year.. now to execute it πŸ™‚

  4. To the Orchard: You could do paper footprints and a paper rainbow inside.

  5. I’m going to try and get past my jealousy that it is warm enough there to wear a spring jacket and lay on the ground in March! Looks like fun though πŸ™‚

    • Last year it was warm enough in WI (at least where I am) to go without coats before St. Patrick’s Day! I find it hard to believe, too, but I’ve got pictures to prove it πŸ™‚

  6. How fun! I can’t wait do this, where did you get the great chalk?

    • They are chalk pastels from Blick Art — I used a 40% off coupon, and we’ve used them LOTS of times for sidewalk art. They are the brights chalks EVER!

  7. I am sure leprecauns couldn’t resist such an invitation! Did you catch one yet?

    • Hee hee! Not yet, those leprechauns are so sneaky & clever — but that won’t stop us from trying again!!

  8. I remember when you did this last year. Very cute! Looks like loads of fun… You know, I may actually do this with Anna. We have a few hours alone each day before we get Andre and Amareah from the after-school program.

  9. I simply adore this post — LOVE it and am so doing it on Thursday! Keep the snow away!

  10. Hi Valerie! Our first set of leprechaun tracks got washed out in the rain, but it was so much fun we get to do it again! On my blog today are our pots of gold made out of sacrificial chocolate wrappers. Thanks for all the great ideas for fun, quick, frugal activities! Carolyn http://sycamorecorner.blogspot.com/
