Super Emily to the Rescue!

This super hero cape was a late night sewing project I made with my own pattern and some costume satin that is currently on sale at JoAnn Fabrics. It was going to be part of Emily’s Halloween costume, but we are currently suffering from a serious case of indecisiveness with regards to Halloween costumes. At any rate, it was perfect for an afternoon of pretend super hero play!

Super Emily to the rescue! Super Emily is…….
…able to stop tiny babies from wandering onto the sidewalk…
…faster than a speeding snail…
…able to leap blades of grass in a single bound!

  1. Dear Valerie,

You are so kind to call Clara a tiny baby rather than the bulldozer she can be.

    Love,
    Mark

  2. @ Mark — You're right… I forget how strong-willed she can be when she gets her mind set on something. She gets that from you. 😉

  3. @ Valerie — I was referring more to her physical ham-fisted destruction than I was to her mental prowess. You are right, though, she has both.

  4. So cute! I love the cape.

In my imagination, you and Mark never speak to each other. You communicate via blog comments exclusively.

  6. I bet your little super hero sleeps great tonight! Tough work saving babies and being super.

  7. Great cape — I love the faster than a speeding snail part.

  8. Very cute, all of it: The cape, the superhero (and the tiny baby), the photos' captions, and the commentary between you and Mark! Nicely done!

  9. Love the cape. I need to get one for my little!

  10. Super Emily is sure to have so much fun in her new cape. Who knows what other magical powers may be discovered while wearing this cape.

  11. That is the cutest ever and the descriptions gave me a nice little chuckle. I should make my kids some capes… I had two sewing machines and sold one. The other is in my storage area and it was my grandmothers new one that I haven't been able to part with. Shame on me for not utilizing especially since she taught me to sew. I'm sure I'll get the sewing bug again eventually.

  12. your pattern looks nice and easy–just what i'm looking for! any chance we can get a look at it?

  13. You did a beautiful job on the cape.
