Hot Air Balloon Window Display

Welcome! If you’re new here, you may want to like our facebook page, or subscribe to our newsletter for projects and play ideas to do with your kids! Thanks for stopping by!

It’s time for a new window display! (If you’re new to our blog, you can see our previous window displays here, here, here, here, and here.) This time we painted up coffee filters with watercolor paint! I love how these painted coffee filters each have a unique look.

The filters hold up very well to lots of water — perfect for little ones who might be a teensy bit too enthusiastic with the water while painting…?? Not that I’m going to name any names… Claraaaaaa

Ahem.

Anyhooooo, my girls adore any type of painting project, so this was a big hit with them. We had lots of smiles and giggles!!

Next, we got to work cleaning our window while the coffee filters were drying. Do your kids like to help clean windows with spray bottles of water too??

Once the coffee filters were completely dry, they were ready to be attached to the window with washable gluestick!

The gluestick works really well for adhering tissue paper or coffee filters to glass. When we’re ready to change out this display, the filters will peel right off, and we can clean up the rest of the gluestick with a damp sponge! I painted the other details with acrylic paint mixed with dish soap — also temporary and will wash right off from glass (though it will stain fabric and/or walls, so take any necessary precautions).

I absolutely love how pretty these look whenever the light shines through the window, that the girls are so proud to have their artwork prominently displayed in our home, and that they add just a touch of whimsy!

They make me smile every time I open the door!

Have fun!!
