Here is a step-by-step video of this Valentine STEAM Project:

Directions:

To begin, use a pair of kitchen scissors to cut a 4 inch section of a pool noodle. Next, insert the battery powered toothbrush through the hole in the center of the pool noodle. Be sure the bottom of the toothbrush is level with the bottom of the pool noodle. Use needle nose pliers to make guide holes for pipe cleaner antennae and robot arms. Use tissue paper for wings, and attach the wings to the body of the robot with pipe cleaners.

Now it is time to decorate your love bug robot!

Add wiggle eyes, and use a permanent marker to draw a mouth on your robot. For a control panel, add a few bits of duct tape and/or stickers. Add a variety of heart shaped or Valentine stickers to make your love bug robot a unique creation!

Switch on the battery powered toothbrush, and watch your love bug robot move and dance! You could even take this STEAM project one step further, and use blocks to build a maze for your love bug robot. Set a timer and graph your attempts to get through the maze in record time!

Have fun!!
