Easy Sock Puppets

This post is sponsored by our friends at Netflix, and I am a proud member of the Netflix #StreamTeam. All opinions are my own.

These easy sock puppets were inspired by the new Netflix show Julie’s Greenroom starring the lovely Julie Andrews! I love that Netflix has programming that inspires kids to be creative and bring their own stories to life. Julie’s Greenroom takes kids behind the scenes to show what goes on to produce a Broadway show from the costumes and scenery, to lighting and more! This feel-good show is designed for kids ages 3-7 years old and features exciting guest stars. The kids will love getting to know the puppet characters in the show, especially Peri, Kip, and Walter!

Here are a few ideas for creating easy sock puppets of your own:

Place the sock onto your non-dominant hand. Use a pencil to mark where you would like to attach eyes, a nose, mouth, or other features. Remove the sock from your hand, and lay it on a flat surface. Use tacky glue to attach the puppet’s features. I love how each of these sock puppets are unique, and how they inspire lots of creative playtime fun!

Use a doorway and an adjustable curtain rod to create your own puppet theater like this one! Next, write up your storyboard and rehearse your puppet show.

Don’t forget to distribute tickets and make popcorn to enjoy the show!
